Community BLM Resources

Black Lives Matter

Not only have we seen the black community hit disproportionally by COVID-19, we've seen unjust treatment and affliction. None of this ok.

On the flipside, Google has seen allyship and support for the black community in numbers and from people and communities never imagined. We need to take this moment and continue the movement. In a time that can feel like despair piled on despair, we can use our voices, our money, and our positions to make change happen.

On behalf of Michigan Community Affairs and Google's Black Googler Network, we have created a Michigan specific resource to raise money for the Black community in Michigan and share resources on education and allyship within your local community.

If you are a Michigan black owned business or non-profit please reach out to us! We will add your page to our site.

Allyship & Educational Resources

For those that are able to donate - thank you - your support is appreciated today and needed tomorrow. Please take a moment to see how you may be able to influence change and develop allyship. We believe Black Lives Matter goes beyond just a one-time contribution.

Other ways you can show allyship:

  • Listen to your Black friends and colleagues by letting them know you’re here for them, but don’t necessarily expect a reply back. Also, remember that educating yourself is on you - not them.
  • Remember Allyship is a journey. It will be rocky and you won’t get it right 100% of the time. Accept those mistakes with humility; you will be a better ally for it.
  • Read up on these anti-racism resources and have a discussion with your colleagues, families, and friends on what you’ve learned.
  • If you’re a parent, consider having a conversation with your children on race and racism, using these resources as reference.
